Smartsheet is a very robust collaboration tool. Imagine a glorified spreadsheet document that has charts, metrics, that everyone can tap into and are all linked to one another. It’s a powerful program with a unique dashboard feature that can surface up everyone’s documents to help companies make knowledgeable and impact business decisions.

Approximately 75% of the Fortune 500 companies use Smartsheet internally. Unfortunately 40% of customers do not utilize the dashboard feature and have not learned the value that dashboards can provide.

The following examples are some of the changes that were made during the redesign of the dashboard.

New design features added to the dashboard widget:

Designed new IA for the dashboard
Increased visibility to create and edit a dashboard
Replaced editing modal with right panel
New 12 column grid that widgets snap to
Visual indicator of viewing vs editing mode
Improved overflow actions on widget
Added toolbar interaction onto widget for editing

Navigation bar
re-design

The existing navigation was challenging for users as most actions were hidden and scattered. It was also difficult to tell the difference between viewing and editing a dashboard. The architecture was recreated, actions renamed and moved into File/Edit/View menus which are more thoughtful and familiar to users.
